IT Project Portfolio Analyst Lead
11 Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Remote
$60/hr – $64/hr W2

The role of the IT Project Portfolio Analyst Lead involves leveraging portfolio management expertise and leadership capabilities to oversee various portfolio management processes across one or more portfolios with moderate complexity. This position supports Governance in making informed decisions regarding prioritization, investment, and staffing based on factual and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a recognized authority on portfolio processes, pinpointing inefficiencies in existing workflows and offering solutions to enhance or develop new processes. Manage assignments focused on advancing existing portfolio management practices.
  • Coordinate the collection, classification, assessment, and selection of innovative ideas and business cases that align with Business/IT Strategies for portfolio integration.
  • Lead assessments of how new ideas impact the current portfolio, keep a dynamic list of demands, and advise Governance regarding initiatives for the initiation phase or high-level planning.
  • Guide resource forecasting, assign resources for new and ongoing projects, and conduct analysis on resource impacts.
  • Oversee the decision-making process for evaluating current projects/programs compared to newly approved ideas for prioritization within the portfolio.
  • Facilitate discussions and decisions among portfolio stakeholders regarding the status of ongoing work, stage-gate reviews, capital evaluations, and resource capacity planning.
  • Ensure effective communication among stakeholders about performance metrics, financial health, benefits realization, and alignment with Business/IT Strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to enhance the professional and portfolio management skills of team members.
  • Develop and maintain a communication strategy for portfolio management.
  • Review and assess risks, key performance indicators, issues, changes, dependencies, and integration points that may jeopardize one or multiple portfolios, raising relevant concerns with stakeholders for resolution.
  • Conduct GAP Analysis, evaluate impacts, and assist in governance decisions by recommending mitigation strategies.

Essential Skills:

  • In-depth experience in PMO Delivery (Project Management), Service/PMO roles, and IT project/program management.
  • Proven ability to utilize, train, and advise on Project Management Tools, especially Planview offerings such as ProjectPlace, Portfolios, and AgilePlace.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing advisory support to Project Managers on both Predictive & Adaptive delivery frameworks and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of project baselines and schedule creation, offering support for diverse IT project schedules (e.g., Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, Small Work).

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in IT analysis, IT project planning/scheduling roles, or a combination of both.
  • {OR} A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a business or IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Business Management) along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT analysis or project planning/scheduling.
