Candidates should hold a high school diploma and possess at least two years of experience in a clinical veterinary hospital setting. A license as a Registered Veterinary Technician in California is preferred, and obtaining a California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit is mandatory within 60 days of employment.
