The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurately assigning diagnostic, quality, and procedure codes to patient encounters. They must also review records for documentation support and communicate with healthcare providers to ensure coding accuracy. Candidates must hold a professional coding certification such as RHIT, CCA, CCS, CBCS, CPC, COC, or CIC. Proficiency in coding software and healthcare computer applications is preferred, and new hires must obtain certification within one year.
