Litigation Docket Clerk
Location: Los Angeles, CA – Hybrid
Salary: $74,000 – $115,000

The **Litigation Docket Clerk** is tasked with delivering essential support in litigation docket and case management to attorneys and secretarial staff throughout the firm.

Responsibilities of the Litigation Docket Clerk:

  • Monitors and replies to emails sent to the Docket mailbox, ensuring all requests are fulfilled accurately and within 24 hours.
  • Inputs and updates data in the docket software system, tracks due dates, and ensures proper documentation is recorded.
  • Attaches relevant case documents in the docket software and links them to the Document Management System appropriately.
  • Provides prompt updates about case status to attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries, utilizing direct communication with courts and agencies.
  • Conducts in-person visits to local courts and agencies for filings, case status inquiries, document retrieval, and fee payments, following up with attorneys on the outcomes.
  • Carries out electronic filings and online research through public access platforms, PACER, and File & Serve.
  • Handles Audit Letter Inquiries, supplying formal reports concerning all ongoing litigation as requested.
  • Collects and returns receipts related to case expenses to the Director of Business Intake.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements in docket policies and procedures to enhance service for timekeepers.
  • Provides additional support to the Docket Manager as needed.

Requirements for the Litigation Docket Clerk:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate’s degree or higher, and/or a Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a law firm, particularly in docket or similar roles.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in computer operations: Windows, Internet applications, typing, and data entry. Familiarity with docket software such as Milana, Aderant eDockets, CompuLaw, or similar is preferred. Knowledge of Document Management Systems like NetDocuments is also advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of the litigation process.
  • Outstanding customer service and phone communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with various firm departments, attorneys, staff, and court personnel.
  • Basic knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure across State, Federal, and Municipal Courts.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
