Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist – OR plays a crucial role in operating rooms by assisting surgeons and medical staff during surgical procedures. This position involves various tasks that are essential for the efficient functioning of the surgical team, including the preparation and maintenance of the operating environment to ensure patient safety and successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and ensure they are sterile and ready for surgical procedures.
- Assist with the sterilization of instruments and materials used during surgeries.
- Support the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies as needed during operations.
- Ensure that all surgical tools are accounted for and properly maintained.
- Monitor patient safety and assist in maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) may be preferred or required.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
