Job Summary
The Vascular Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized care to patients who have undergone vascular procedures and require monitoring in a step-down unit. This role involves critical assessment, intervention, and support as patients transition from intensive care to recovery, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their healing process.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess their condition regularly to detect any changes early.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to protocols and patient safety.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, recovery processes, and potential complications.
- Document patient progress and responses to treatment accurately and timely in medical records.
- Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions to stabilize patients.
Qualifications
- Valid and active nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in a step-down, telemetry, or vascular unit is preferred.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective patient interaction and teamwork.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are typically required.
