Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist in the operating room plays a crucial role in delivering safe and effective patient care throughout surgical procedures. This position is located in Urbana, Illinois, and requires an onsite work arrangement. The Surgical Technologist may serve as the first, second, or assisting surgical technician, contributing to the team’s efforts in the operating room.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room, ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are ready for use.
- Maintain sterile technique to prevent infection and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Actively participate in surgical procedures under the guidance of surgeons and other medical personnel.
- Understand and apply principles of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and microbiology in a surgical context.
- Support post-operative care and assist in patient management as needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy and related medical terminology.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced operating room environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team.
- Certification in Surgical Technology may be preferred or required.
