Job Summary
The Biologist specializing in Animal Care is responsible for the welfare and management of various animal species. In this role, the biologist will ensure the proper care, health, and enrichment of the animals under their supervision. This position requires a deep understanding of animal behavior and biology to support the organization’s goals regarding animal health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the health and behavior of animal populations.
- Implement and oversee enrichment programs to promote animal well-being.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure appropriate medical care is provided.
- Maintain accurate records related to animal care and health status.
- Conduct research on animal biology and care practices to enhance existing protocols.
- Educate staff and the public about animal behavior and care needs.
- Assist in the development of training programs for animal handling and care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science, or a related field.
- Experience working with animals, preferably in a zoo or research facility.
- Strong understanding of animal care regulations and best practices.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in data recording and analysis related to animal health.
