Job Summary
The CDL Driver (Local Routes) is responsible for operating commercial vehicles to transport goods within a specified local area. This role ensures timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Furthermore, drivers must perform vehicle inspections and manage the loading and unloading of goods.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently on designated local routes.
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries while adhering to schedule requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo, securing it to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding delivery status and any issues encountered.
- Follow all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to driving and transportation.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) applicable to the vehicle type.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Ability to pass regular drug tests and background checks.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Experience with local route driving is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks as required.
