Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This position involves providing assistance with daily living activities, fostering independence, and supporting personal goals. The DSP serves as a vital support system, ensuring that the individuals in care can engage fully in their communities while leading meaningful lives.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Encourage and facilitate community engagement and social interaction.
- Assist with the development and implementation of individual support plans.
- Monitor and document the progress and needs of individuals, reporting any changes in health or behavior.
- Provide emotional support and build trusting relationships with individuals and their families.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in relevant fields is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience in a caregiving or support role is preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
