Job Summary
The Histotechnician I is responsible for crucial laboratory functions such as preparing slides, embedding specimens, conducting microtomy, and applying stains. This role operates under the guidance of experienced personnel, ensuring that laboratory practices meet relevant safety and quality regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process laboratory slides for examination.
- Embed specimens and perform microtomy techniques.
- Apply various staining methods for analysis.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functionality.
- Manage documentation and lab records effectively.
- Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards in laboratory practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience in histology or a related laboratory environment.
- Preferred: Completion of college-level science courses.
- Preferred: Graduation from a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program.
