Job Summary
The Lead Machinist will be in charge of the operations at the Hawthorne machine shop, focusing on the production of flight hardware and directing a team comprising machinists and quality inspectors. This role entails scheduling shop activities, developing machining processes, and ensuring that the output meets the stringent quality requirements of the Ranger spacecraft program.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of the machine shop.
- Manage and coordinate the production schedule for flight hardware.
- Lead a team of machinists and inspectors to ensure work quality and efficiency.
- Develop and refine machining processes to optimize output.
- Ensure compliance with high-quality standards for aerospace products.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC setup and programming.
- At least 3 years of experience machining to tight tolerances.
- High school diploma is mandatory.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
