Provides clinical support for patient examinations and treatment, including collecting histories, recording vital signs, drawing blood, administering injections and tests, and assisting with routine procedures. Prepares examination rooms and supplies, documents care, processes prescriptions and referrals, and performs clerical tasks to support clinic operations. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus either six months of experience as a medical assistant or patient care technician, or completion of a qualifying healthcare training program. BLS certification is required within six months for designated rural health clinics; medical assistant certification, electronic medical record experience, and relevant medical office experience are preferred.
