Job Summary
The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges. This position involves working directly with patients to monitor their well-being, assist in treatment plans, and facilitate activities that promote recovery and stability. Mental Health Technicians are integral to creating a safe and therapeutic environment for patients in various settings.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ behavior and emotional status throughout their stay.
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment programs and plans.
- Provide support during therapeutic activities, ensuring patient engagement.
- Document patient progress and communicate observations to nursing staff and mental health professionals.
- Help maintain a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff.
- Support crisis intervention and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require further education in mental health or related fields.
- Experience in mental health settings is a plus but not always required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with diverse populations.
- Ability to manage stress and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of basic behavioral health practices and principles.
