Job Summary
An MRI Technologist is responsible for conducting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging results while providing exceptional patient care. This role involves working closely with patients, explaining the procedures, and ensuring their comfort throughout the imaging process. The technologist must adhere to safety protocols and maintain equipment functionality to deliver reliable imaging services.
Responsibilities
- Perform MRI scans and diagnostic imaging according to established protocols.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort.
- Position patients accurately to obtain optimal imaging results while adhering to safety standards.
- Monitor patient responses during scanning to ensure their safety and address any concerns.
- Maintain MRI equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order and report any malfunctions.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other medical personnel to evaluate images and diagnose conditions.
- Update and maintain accurate patient records, including imaging results and patient information.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized MRI technology program.
- Current certification and registration with relevant professional bodies, such as the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
- Strong understanding of MRI equipment operation and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
