Job Summary
The MRI Technologist plays a vital role in the healthcare team, responsible for operating MRI equipment to produce high-quality images of patients’ tissues and organs. This position requires a blend of technical skills, patient care, and high attention to detail to ensure diagnostic imaging procedures are performed effectively and safely.
Responsibilities
- Administer MRI scans as per established protocols while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Collaborate closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret images and provide accurate diagnostic information.
- Maintain and troubleshoot MRI equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.
- Follow all safety standards and regulations to protect patients and staff from unnecessary exposure to magnetic fields or radiation.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient data and imaging results, adhering to privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Assist in training new staff and providing guidance on imaging techniques and equipment use.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program.
- Current certification in MRI technology and state licensure (where applicable).
- Strong understanding of MRI technology and anatomy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with patients and healthcare colleagues.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
