Consultative Pharmacy Technician

As a qualified Consultative Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for managing calls from patients, pharmacies, and healthcare providers while providing essential administrative and customer support following set protocols. Your role will involve triaging inquiries, aiding in medication research, and facilitating medication therapy management through outbound communications with patients. Under close supervision, you will execute routine activities, address pertinent inquiries, and assist with medication evaluations, all while adhering to high-quality service standards and established guidelines.
Key Responsibilities of the Consultative Pharmacy Technician:
- Respond to inquiries related to specific areas and support medication research efforts.
- Handle calls requiring pharmacist consultation.
- Initiate outbound calls to patients to promote medication therapy management programs and arrange medication review sessions with consultative pharmacists.
- Make decisions within a defined framework concerning work expectations, quality benchmarks, priorities, and deadlines, while operating within established policies and guidelines with minimal deviation.
Consultative Pharmacy Technician Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid license from the Board of Pharmacy in your state of residence.
- Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT.
- Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in a pharmacy-related call center environment.
- Ability to think critically, anticipate customer needs, take proactive measures, and provide a superior customer experience.
- Skilled problem solver capable of identifying effective solutions to meet customer needs even when ideal tools and resources are lacking.
- Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Moderate proficiency in Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with RxNova, CRM, and/or ScriptMed.
- Experience utilizing multiple computer applications concurrently along with proficient data entry skills.
