Job Summary
The Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by serving as the first point of contact for patients. This position involves understanding patients’ requirements and ensuring they are scheduled for the necessary medical appointments. Additionally, the specialist is tasked with verifying insurance details, directing incoming calls effectively, and ensuring that patient records are accurately maintained in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and ascertain their requirements for medical services.
- Coordinate and schedule various medical appointments as needed.
- Perform insurance verification and communicate relevant information to patients.
- Direct phone calls appropriately within the organization.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date patient records in the EMR system.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service, ideally in a healthcare or call center context.
- A high school diploma or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Excellent communication abilities and strong multitasking skills are essential.
