Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician plays a crucial role in supporting professional nursing staff by delivering essential direct patient care. This includes carrying out tasks such as phlebotomy, conducting EKGs, and monitoring glucose levels. The technician also ensures a safe environment within the unit, focuses on enhancing patient comfort, and aids in the processes of admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist nurses in providing direct patient care.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKG, and glucose monitoring tasks.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients.
- Support and promote patient comfort throughout their stay.
- Assist with administrative processes such as patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a hospital setting.
- Certification in BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED is necessary.
- Completion of PCT or CNA certifications as specified in the job requirements.
