Job Summary
The Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse plays a critical role in managing the care of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. This specialized nursing position requires comprehensive knowledge of dialysis techniques and patient education, ensuring optimal care and support for patients with renal conditions. The nurse will work closely with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop individualized treatment plans and ensure effective management of the dialysis process.
Responsibilities
- Performing assessments and monitoring patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis.
- Educating patients and their families about the dialysis process and home care procedures.
- Developing and implementing patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Providing troubleshooting and support for patients in case of any complications with dialysis.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of patient progress and medical records.
Qualifications
- A current nursing license, with a preference for experience in nephrology or dialysis nursing.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of peritoneal dialysis.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient and family interactions.
- Skills in patient assessment and critical thinking.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
