Quality Control Manager

The **Quality Control Manager** plays a crucial role in directing the quality department, ensuring that plastic sheet products align with both company standards and customer requirements throughout the entire manufacturing cycle. This position involves supervising quality technicians, conducting inspections and audits, addressing quality issues, executing corrective measures, and ensuring adherence to quality protocols and regulatory standards. The manager collaborates with both production teams and upper management to optimize processes, uphold product quality, and promote ongoing improvements, spending time in the office as well as on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality Control Manager:
- Oversee the Quality Control Technicians.
- Examine and validate incoming materials and final products.
- Carry out quality assessments on plastic sheet products focusing on appearance, thickness, dimensions, and usability.
- Calibrate and maintain measurement tools, which include calipers, micrometers, gloss meters, and color meters.
- Execute both internal and external quality audits and uphold ISO/QMS documentation.
- Investigate product defects as well as customer complaints and returned materials (RMA), taking necessary corrective actions.
- Maintain regulatory documents, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and Certificates of Conformance (COCs).
- Conduct color testing and manage color standards.
- Create and revise quality control procedures for both new and existing products.
- Assist production teams by troubleshooting quality-related issues and ensuring equipment is maintained as required.
Requirements for the Quality Control Manager:
- Experience in quality control within a manufacturing setting.
- Previous supervisory or management roles.
- Familiarity with precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, rulers, and dial indicators.
- Capability to read and understand measurements and specifications.
- Preferred knowledge of quality audits, ISO/QMS systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in plastic extrusion or the manufacturing of plastic sheets is advantageous.
- Ability to handle hand tools and work on production machinery when necessary.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. and navigate both office and production environments.
