Job Summary
The Residential Counselor plays a pivotal role in the daily operations of a residential treatment facility, focusing on providing comprehensive care and support to residents. This position is essential for fostering a safe and nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and recovery for individuals facing various challenges.
Responsibilities
- Engage with residents to establish positive relationships and provide emotional support.
- Implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Assist in personal development activities and life skills training.
- Monitor residents’ behavior and ensure adherence to facility rules and regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports regarding residents’ progress and incidents.
- Facilitate group discussions and therapeutic activities to encourage peer support.
- Communicate effectively with staff, families, and other stakeholders regarding residents’ needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field is preferred.
- Experience in mental health, addiction, or a related field is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassion and empathy towards residents, with a desire to help others.
- CPR and First Aid certification may be required.
