Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Surgery department plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position requires a skilled professional who is adept at managing patient needs and providing support during critical surgical settings, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and monitor patients prior to surgical interventions.
- Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
- Ensure adherence to safety and infection control protocols throughout the surgical process.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate records regarding patient assessments and surgical procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure and certification in the state of practice.
- Prior experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification; Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) may be required.
