The Senior Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) division. This position encompasses a variety of tasks related to accounts payable, payroll, and both financial and operational reporting across multiple locations in the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Oversee and reconcile essential balance sheet accounts to guarantee accuracy. Collaborate with local finance teams to ensure proper accounting practices are understood.
- Conduct variance and fluctuation analyses for balance sheet accounts and the income statement, providing insights and corrective measures alongside local finance teams.
- Take charge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes, consistently seeking opportunities to improve controls and enhance operational efficiency.
- Examine trial balances and financial statements for discrepancies; investigate and resolve issues as necessary.
- Serve as the authority on month-end close activities and deliverables.
- Work closely with local finance teams to foster their understanding of the closing process, managing the complete end-to-end close for each site based on their requirements.
- Prepare and present analyses on budget variances and fluctuations, providing comprehensive explanations to support findings.
- Assist with accounts payable coding as required.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives throughout the finance function.
- Collect information for tax compliance and audit processes.
- Ensure adherence to internal and SOX controls, maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Offer necessary administrative assistance to the team as needed.
- Provide backup support for local accounting operations.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (mandatory), with 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with ERP systems is essential; familiarity with OneStream, Netsuite, and/or QuickBooks is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of the chart of accounts, journal entries, and reconciliation processes. Demonstrated experience in full-cycle accounting, with the capability to define and implement accounting processes effectively.
- Experience in working within environments that emphasize internal controls, prioritizing compliance and precision.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly with MS Office applications.
