Senior Trade Compliance Specialist

Position Overview:
The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role within the Foreign Trade Department, collaborating closely with the Manager to achieve compliance goals across both domestic and international operations, supporting the company’s business activities. This position involves managing daily tasks independently while also contributing to more complex projects as designated by the Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely completion of the department’s daily functions.
- Provide guidance and clarify trade compliance prerequisites.
- Assess jurisdiction and export classification for products, technical data, and services.
- Conduct inquiries to identify and resolve trade compliance challenges.
- Maintain an expert understanding of U.S. trade laws and regulations.
- Prepare applications for the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of State.
- Support the development and execution of processes, programs, and resources related to foreign trade.
- Oversee audits of trade compliance procedures and standards.
- Act as a representative and spokesperson on trade compliance issues.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of trade compliance training sessions.
- Assist in training new personnel in trade compliance.
- Handle additional tasks as assigned by the Foreign Trade Director and Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected status is necessary due to export control regulations.
- Deep understanding of U.S. trade regulations, especially the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- A strong technical background is essential, including knowledge of manufacturing processes, technical drawings, materials, electronics, and units of measurement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is required.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively with personnel at various levels within the organization.
Qualifications for the Senior Trade Compliance Specialist:
A Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with at least five years of experience or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Previous experience in the Aerospace or Defense sectors is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a broker license.
- International travel experience and a valid passport.
Additional Skills:
Language Proficiency: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various business-related publications, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Capable of writing reports, business communications, and procedural manuals, and effectively presenting information to various audiences.
Mathematical Proficiency: Comfortable working with mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, and geometry. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios in practical scenarios.
Reasoning Skills: Proficient in identifying problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and deriving valid conclusions. Capable of interpreting complex technical instructions and managing abstract and concrete variables.
