Job Summary
The Surgical Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting dental professionals during surgical procedures. This position requires assisting with patient care, instruments, and overall clinic operations to ensure a safe and efficient environment for both staff and patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
- Prepare the surgical area and ensure that all equipment is sterile and ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs as required by the dentist.
- Manage patient records and assist in scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Educate patients on post-operative care and treatment plans.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and facilitate orders when necessary.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols within the dental office.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; dental assistant certification preferred.
- Previous experience in a surgical dental setting is highly regarded.
- Familiarity with dental procedures and terminology.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team of dental professionals.
