Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in preparing the operating room by organizing sterile instruments and equipment, ensuring a sterile environment is upheld during surgical procedures. This professional supports the surgical team by providing necessary instruments, holding retractors, and safeguarding patient safety throughout the surgical process and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field and environment in the operating room.
- Set up and ensure the availability of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and holding retractors as needed.
- Monitor patient safety throughout the surgical procedure and in the postoperative phase.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Current certification from a nationally recognized body accredited by NCCA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
