Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist – OR plays a pivotal role in the operating room by assisting healthcare professionals in providing safe and effective care to patients during surgical procedures. This position ensures a sterile environment and supports the surgical team with various tasks before, during, and after operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in preparing for operations, including ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and prevent infection.
- Support the lead surgeon by passing instruments, suctioning, and performing other essential tasks during surgeries.
- Participate in teaching and training opportunities, including aiding medical students in their education.
- Adhere to strict protocols for the disposal of surgical waste and cleaning of equipment post-surgery.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is required within one year of employment.
- Demonstrated competence in maintaining a sterile operating environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and the roles of various instruments.
