Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist OR is an integral part of the surgical team, responsible for assisting in surgical procedures and ensuring that the operating room is efficiently prepared. This role involves managing sterilization protocols and collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care before, during, and after surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operating room by ensuring it is equipped and ready for surgical procedures.
- Manage and verify that all surgical instruments meet sterilization standards prior to use.
- Assist surgeons and other medical personnel during operations by supplying instruments and materials as needed.
- Label and organize materials carefully, assessing patient needs and facilitating communications with caregivers.
- Adhere to fire safety processes and maintain a secure environment for all patients and staff in the operating room.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, such as an Operating Room Technician (ORT) program.
- Relevant certifications and experience in surgical technology are preferred.
- Strong understanding of sterilization criteria and procedures related to surgical instruments and environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Commitment to patient safety and adherence to health regulations and practices.
