Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room (OR) plays a vital role in the surgical team by providing essential support and care to patients throughout the intraoperative phase. This position is fundamental in assisting the surgical staff and ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are prepared and sterile, facilitating high-quality surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and organization of the surgical environment, ensuring a sterile field.
- Support surgeons and nurses during operation by passing instruments and materials as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment to provide necessary support in various procedures.
- Apply principles of sterile technique consistently to minimize the risk of infection.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the practice of sterile technique.
- Previous experience in a surgical environment is preferable.
