Tool Technician
Location: Wooster, Ohio
Shift: 1st Shift (6:45 am – 2:45 pm)
Environment: On-Site Manufacturing
Pay Rate: $28.90/hr
Overview of Tool Technician Role
As a Tool Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining, cleaning, disassembling, and troubleshooting injection molds utilized in our production processes. Your efforts will ensure that molds are well maintained, operate effectively, and comply with quality and safety expectations within a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities of a Tool Technician
- Assist with the disassembly and cleaning of injection molds, and troubleshoot problems using established procedures.
- Execute mold cleaning and lubrication within the press as required to ensure production remains uninterrupted.
- Employ basic hand tools effectively and showcase your mechanical skills while performing daily maintenance operations.
- Operate or assist in the use of tool room machinery, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers to ensure accurate part and component measurements.
- Adhere to established maintenance protocols, safety regulations, and documentation practices.
- Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance tasks and tool binder documentation.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and precision while thriving under pressure and tight production deadlines.
- Independently manage routine responsibilities while showing initiative to acquire new skills.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives concerning mold upkeep and plastics processing.
- Keep a tidy and organized workspace aligned with 5S principles and plant standards.
Qualifications for Tool Technician
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or tool room setting is preferred.
- Experience with machining, mold upkeep, or injection molding processes is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical skills and a desire to develop proficiency in machining and mold maintenance are essential.
