Job Summary
The Prototype Assembler plays a vital role in the electrical and mechanical assembly of customized cabinet systems designed to meet specific client needs. This position entails understanding and interpreting electrical schematics, technical drawings, work orders, and customer requirements. The individual will translate these documents into tangible products through various assembly tasks while upholding rigorous safety, quality, efficiency, and timely delivery standards.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and utilize electrical schematics, technical drawings, work orders, and provided specifications to guide assembly tasks.
- Conduct mechanical assembly of components onto electrical cabinets and panels.
- Assemble and disassemble cabinet doors, accessories, and corresponding components.
- Execute low-voltage, power, and signal wiring as needed.
- Select suitable wiring, components, hardware, and securing techniques according to technical documentation.
- Prepare electrical wiring through stripping, crimping, terminating, routing, and securing.
- Install and accurately position electrical and mechanical components within panels and cabinets.
- Consistently apply correct labels for wires, components, and cabinets.
- Modify cabinets and panels where necessary to align with project specifications.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and workmanship in various builds.
- Identify and resolve assembly-related challenges while effectively communicating with colleagues and departments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Efficiently complete assigned builds in accordance with projected timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical panel assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Experience in the assembly of electrical cabinets or control panels.
- Proficient in using essential hand and power tools including drills, crimpers, and torque wrenches.
- Capability to visualize completed products and construct them from technical documentation.
- Skill in selecting components, determining placement, and independently executing assembly tasks.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with organizational abilities.
- Basic mathematical proficiency, manual dexterity, and good hand-eye coordination are essential.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- A high school diploma is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Prior experience in engineered-to-order (ETO) manufacturing.
- An associate degree is preferred.
- Experience in a production or prototype assembly environment.
- Familiarity with the electrical and mechanical assembly of custom equipment or cabinet systems.
