Job Summary
The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) on night shift is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in a medical and surgical unit. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care as well as coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients. The position requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to work efficiently during nighttime hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the medical-surgical unit during night shifts.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ conditions and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies, ensuring safety and quality care.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to improve nursing skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
