Shipping Specialist

7-3:30 pm The Shipping Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, precise, and prompt handling, packing, documentation, and distribution of chemical products. This position requires operating and overseeing processing equipment such as reactors, tanks, and material-handling systems, while accurately adding raw materials and managing process conditions, including temperature, pressure, and levels. The specialist will maintain thorough production records, package goods according to customer requirements, and assist in material movement using both manual techniques and forklifts. Shipping Specialist Responsibilities:
- Safely operate machinery, including the initiation, shutdown, and changeovers of products. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, reactors, tanks, conveyors, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
- Confirm product quantities, batch numbers, lot numbers, and shipping documents prior to dispatch.
- Oversee and adjust controls to manage tank and reactor levels, temperature, and pressure.
- Ensure inventory accuracy.
- Package the final product in bags, drums, or supersacks following customer and company specifications.
- Transport product bags and drums both manually and using a forklift.
- Demonstrate proficiency in forklift operation.
- Conduct regular housekeeping duties to keep the workspace clean and safe.
- Adhere to safety protocols to avoid chemical reactions and promptly report any product or machinery issues to the supervisor.
Shipping Specialist Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Capability to operate a forklift.
- Physical ability to manually lift, push, and transport up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
- Willingness to wear a negative-pressure elastomeric seal respirator.
