Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in healthcare by ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, maintained, and managed to support safe patient care. This position is essential in preventing infection and ensuring compliance with health standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Inspect instruments and equipment for functionality and cleanliness prior to sterilization.
- Package, label, and store sterilized items appropriately for efficient access and use.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to understand their needs and ensure timely availability of sterile items.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development regarding sterile processing standards and technologies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare environment is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols and guidelines.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with healthcare staff.
