Job Summary
The SDU RN (Staff Development Unit Registered Nurse) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients within the Short Stay Observation Unit. This position requires advanced clinical knowledge and skills to assess, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions for patients with diverse medical needs. The SDU RN will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with established protocols and standards of practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and care to patients in the Short Stay Observation Unit.
- Develop and execute individualized care plans based on assessment findings and patient needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while monitoring patient responses.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding health care procedures, medications, and self-care post-discharge.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or equivalent experience.
- Relevant clinical experience in acute care or similar settings.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
