Process Engineer Job Summary
Process Engineer leads the development and implementation of manufacturing automation solutions that improve safety, quality, productivity, and process stability across multiple manufacturing sites. This role partners with operations, engineering, IT, quality, R&D, and capital project teams to design, integrate, and optimize automated systems that eliminate dirty, dull, and dangerous (3D) tasks. The position supports capital projects by overseeing automation strategy, equipment commissioning, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and cybersecurity standards. Additionally, the engineer provides technical leadership, coaching, and training to plant teams while driving the adoption of digital manufacturing technologies and best practices.
Process Engineer Responsibilities

  • Lead automation initiatives that eliminate dirty, dull, and dangerous (3D) tasks while improving safety, quality, productivity, and process reliability.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and implement automated manufacturing systems, including robotics, PLCs, control systems, and digital manufacturing technologies.
  • Partner with plant operations, Process SMEs, IT, Quality, R&D, and Capital Engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain automation architecture, programming, documentation, and technical standards.
  • Manage automation project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Conduct process analysis, root cause investigations, and implement corrective actions using digital tools and data-driven decision making.
  • Support capital and productivity projects through equipment improvements, commissioning, startup support, and Management of Change processes.
  • Ensure automation systems comply with company safety standards, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity expectations.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans, work instructions, and equipment procedures.
  • Analyze process performance data to identify improvement opportunities and establish return on investment (ROI) for automation initiatives.

Process Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or automation engineering experience.
  • Experience with industrial automation, robotics, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and process optimization.
  • Proficiency with automation software (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Python).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
