Job Summary
The PCB Layout Designer will focus on the creation and execution of detailed printed circuit board layouts. This role demands expertise in professional CAD tools such as Altium, PADS, and Xpedition, necessitating effective collaboration with electrical engineers, manufacturing personnel, and clients to facilitate a smooth transition from design phase to production.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage PCB component libraries to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout design phases.
- Produce and execute complete PCB layout solutions that align with engineering specifications and project goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional product development teams to assist in the product development process.
- Create detailed engineering documentation, including schematics, bills of materials, fabrication plans, and assembly instructions to support PCBA manufacturing.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team of electrical and mechanical designers to ensure cohesive development.
- Maintain and amend PADS libraries in accordance with the latest component and design standards.
- Supervise the development of PCB layouts, including component placement reviews and approvals to adhere to design and manufacturing standards.
- Lead PCB layout reviews, addressing essential high-speed design factors such as crosstalk and signal integrity.
- Prepare project quotes and estimates based on customer requirements and input from the engineering team.
- Stay informed on high-speed design methodologies, including PCB material choices and layer configurations, applying them in design as necessary.
- Assist in the selection and qualification of components in partnership with hardware engineering teams.
- Engage in departmental and program-level meetings to ensure team alignment and effective communication.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of pertinent experience in the field.
- Expertise in CAD software tools (Altium, PADS, Xpedition, etc.) is essential.
- Proven ability to adjust to various product categories such as military, medical, consumer, and industrial electronics.
