Job Summary
The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in the Foreign Trade Department, collaborating closely with both the Director and Manager to achieve compliance goals for the organization in various U.S. and international settings. This position is responsible for autonomously managing daily tasks while also contributing to significant projects as designated by leadership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee timely completion of the department’s daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Provide guidance and clarify trade compliance requirements.
- Assess jurisdiction and classify products, technical data, and services for export purposes.
- Investigate and resolve trade compliance issues as they arise.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of U.S. trade regulations and laws.
- Prepare applications for the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of State.
- Support the creation and implementation of foreign trade processes and resources.
- Conduct audits of trade compliance operations.
- Act as a representative on trade compliance issues with external stakeholders.
- Aid in the development and delivery of trade compliance training programs.
- Assist in onboarding and training new trade compliance staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Foreign Trade Director and Manager.
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related area, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training. Experience in Aerospace or Defense sectors is highly valued.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. trade laws and regulations, particularly an expert understanding of ITAR and EAR.
- Technical background that includes familiarity with manufacturing processes, technical specifications, materials, and electronics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. as a citizen, permanent resident, or protected status holder due to export control laws.
- Adept at functioning both independently and in team settings with various business and corporate personnel.
