Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the operating room by assisting surgical teams throughout procedures. This position involves preparing the surgical environment, ensuring that all instruments are sterile and readily accessible, and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety during surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the operating room to facilitate surgical procedures.
- Ensure all surgical instruments are properly sterilized and in optimal working condition.
- Support the surgical team during operations by handing over instruments and supplies as needed.
- Monitor and maintain a sterile environment to prevent infection.
- Assist in positioning patients for surgery and providing necessary pre-operative care.
- Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure smooth workflow in the operating theater.
- Maintain accurate counts of surgical instruments and supplies to ensure nothing is misplaced.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterilization techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
- Current CPR certification.
