The Environmental Health Specialist is responsible for conducting inspections and investigations related to environmental health in areas such as retail food establishments, childcare facilities, educational institutions, and wastewater treatment operations to ensure adherence to regulatory standards. This role also involves addressing public health complaints, probing into environmental factors linked to illnesses, and assisting with preparedness for emergencies. Applicants should possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, with a strong preference for candidates who have one year of experience in governmental health. A valid driver’s license from Colorado is required, along with the capacity to successfully complete background and motor vehicle record checks.
