Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in the surgical team by facilitating the smooth operation of surgical procedures. This professional ensures that all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and managed efficiently, supporting the surgical team to provide high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical operations.
- Assist surgeons and other medical personnel during procedures by handing them instruments and supplies.
- Conduct equipment checks and ensure all items are functional before the start of surgery.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Participate in surgical counts to ensure all instruments are accounted for before and after the procedure.
- Provide support to the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and instruments.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
