Job Summary
The Director of Nursing for Medical/Surgical and Telemetry Units is responsible for overseeing the nursing operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in these critical areas. This role involves leadership, strategic planning, and management of nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and fostering a collaborative environment for both staff and patients.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing teams within the Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and budget management for nursing departments.
- Facilitate professional development and training initiatives for nursing staff.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to promote integrated care delivery.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical practices and make improvements as necessary.
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff and administration regarding operational issues.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license and a valid certification in the state of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a nursing management role, preferably in medical/surgical or telemetry settings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
