Job Summary
The role of a Surgery RN involves delivering exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position ensures that patients receive comprehensive support throughout their surgical journey, from pre-operation assessments to post-operative recovery. Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals is key to providing safe and effective patient care.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and prepare patients for surgical procedures, including conducting pre-operative assessments.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready and sterilized.
- Monitor patient vitals and overall condition before, during, and after surgery.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding surgical procedures and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation related to surgical care.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures at all times.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Experience in surgical nursing or a related clinical area.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and patient care standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be preferred.
