Job Summary
The role of the Surgical Technologist – OR General Surgery involves providing comprehensive support in the operating room, ensuring the highest quality of patient care during surgical procedures. This includes assisting surgeons and other healthcare professionals in a nationally accredited surgical environment, focusing on maintaining safety and effectiveness throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing the operating room by arranging sterile instruments and equipment.
- Support the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and managing supplies.
- Ensure adherence to protocols related to patient safety and infection control.
- Handle and process specimens appropriately in compliance with medical standards.
- Be knowledgeable about the five rights of medication administration in surgical settings.
Qualifications
- Possession of a Surgical Technologist Certification (CST).
- Completion of a program in Surgical Technology from an accredited institution.
- Experience in a surgical or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of patient care practices and surgical procedures.
