Job Summary
The RN Endoscopy role is essential in providing nursing care during endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate quality care and assist in various endoscopic interventions.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by preparing patients and ensuring the required equipment is available and functional.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition during sedation and recovery, addressing any complications that may arise.
- Educate patients and their families about procedure preparation, expectations, and post-procedure care.
- Document all patient interactions and procedures accurately in the medical record as part of compliance with hospital protocols.
- Maintain and clean the endoscopy suite and equipment to uphold hygiene standards and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-procedure assessments and evaluations to ensure readiness for endoscopic interventions.
Qualifications
- Current and valid registered nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Experience in endoscopy or similar procedural nursing is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
