The Authorization Specialist contacts payers to request service authorizations for patients. They are also responsible for collecting financial, demographic, and clinical information from charts, orders, and providers. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with insurance processes. An associate degree in healthcare or business administration is preferred.
