Overview of the BIM Designer Position:
The BIM Designer plays a crucial role in modeling for project execution and adherence to established standards. As part of the production team, this individual is expected to communicate effectively in order to ensure precise and timely modeling and deliverables for the tasks assigned.
Responsibilities of the BIM Designer:
- Facilitate the layout and incorporate field details in Revit, with guidance from the Supervisor/Lead Modeler, adhering to REI Standards.
- Conduct thorough reviews of your own work for precision prior to submission to others.
- Create sheets compliant with project specifications and REI Standards.
- Uphold the Revit model environment in line with Company BIM Standards.
- Track and document progress on tasks in accordance with project standards.
- Comply with all REI confidentiality and Non-Disclosure requirements related to the role.
- Safeguard proprietary and company intellectual property.

Desired Skills for the BIM Designer:
- Strong self-management skills.
- Proficiency in Revit, demonstrated by the ability to create and manage views, navigate browser structures, and generate sheets and schedules.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to meticulously follow detailed instructions.
- Familiarity with REI BIM processes, procedures, and standards, including workflow protocols.
- Ability to interpret 2D plans, whether in digital or printed formats, involving one-lines, lighting schedules, panel schedules, and feeder schedules.
- Willingness to learn industry-standard software such as BlueBeam, Autodesk Cloud products, and NavisWorks.
- Proficient in importing various document types like spreadsheets, images, and text files into Revit projects.
- Capable of typing, proofreading, and spell-checking work independently.
- Understanding teamwork dynamics within Revit work-sharing settings.
- Awareness of 3D coordination with other trades.
- Skilled in using computers and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adjust priorities as needed.
- Exhibit composure under pressure and adaptability to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Possess strong, solutions-focused communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and an effective collaborator within a team.
- Interact professionally and effectively with personnel at all organizational levels, from management to staff.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- An associate degree in Computerized Drafting or a related discipline is preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience in electrical drafting, installation, or in working with Revit is necessary.
- A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may also be considered.
