Electrical BIM Manager
Location: Greater Baltimore, MD
Salary: $125,000/YR

The role of the BIM Manager encompasses overseeing the management and creation of electrical BIM models and field/shop drawings, along with generating BIM content related to building electrical systems and facilitating the BIM coordination process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the virtual construction and design documentation processes.
  • Lead a team of modelers and coordinators, providing coaching, mentorship, and supervision.
  • Ensure adherence to Corporate BIM Programs and Processes.
  • Collaborate with professional staff to review models and address comments.
  • Create electrical building models from initial sketches, 2D drawings, and verbal instructions, utilizing Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP software.
  • Utilize NavisWorks to address and resolve conflicts with other disciplines and trades while enhancing primary electrical system design.
  • Generate drawings and models that align with provided instructions, guidelines, and established CAD/BIM standards.
  • Adjust incoming CAD/BIM files for optimal use in design and detailing (including clean-up, auditing, referencing, and troubleshooting).
  • Develop 3D layouts for electrical systems for both Underground Coordination and Above the Ceiling Coordination.
  • Create a 3D seismic support model for all electrical systems.
  • Extract data directly from the 3D electrical model to produce MEP Coordination and Electrical Shop Drawings.
  • Actively engage in coordination meetings with other MEP trades.
  • Employ CAD Scheduling and Takeoffs to support pre-fabrication efforts.
  • Utilize the Revit family editor and AutoCAD Content Manager to create necessary BIM content for electrical system components.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of extensive experience in the construction industry.
  • A combination of training, education, and equivalent relevant work experience will be considered.
  • A thorough understanding of the electrical construction industry.
  • Proficiency in REVIT Architecture/MEP from version 2010 onwards, along with AutoCAD 2D/3D expertise (basic training in REVIT alone is insufficient).
  • Ability to work effectively within project deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer usage, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); experience with Oracle is preferred.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while adjusting to shifting priorities as needed.
  • Capable of working under pressure and adapting to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills relevant to the role.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and a strong team collaborator.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 25% – 50% travel expected.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standard work setting includes sitting for extended periods, along with standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Most work takes place indoors, with varied environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise levels are generally low to medium; however, job sites may be louder.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 30 lbs is required.
