Overview
The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is an enthusiastic and driven professional dedicated to achieving objectives and delivering outstanding service. This role is ideal for an individual who excels in dynamic, entrepreneurial settings and takes ownership of their responsibilities. BSAs serve as technical subject matter experts (SMEs) and are tasked with: acting as a key intermediary between clients/vendors and internal technology teams; investigating system challenges; documenting technical requirements; modifying configurations; and validating implementation efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as the product SME for both internal and external stakeholders
- Cultivate and sustain strong, effective relationships with both new and existing clients
- Engage with clients, including senior stakeholders, technical teams, and end users, with clarity and independence
- Assist in executing project plans in collaboration with Project Management
- Conduct technical research using systems and data (SQL, stored procedures, etc.) to address business challenges efficiently
- Convert stakeholder requests and business demands into actionable User Stories with detailed documentation (including functional requirements, technical specifications, mapping documents, and system designs) along with acceptance criteria
- Manage stakeholder expectations during planning and execution, serving as the link between stakeholders and the Development Team
- Participate in daily stand-up meetings
- Provide support to DEV and QA throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Coordinate development and deployments with relevant teams as needed
- Execute post-deployment validation activities
- Identify and pursue opportunities for process improvement, escalating issues when necessary
- Willingness to travel for business as required
Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in Business Systems Analysis or a related field
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred
- Strong expertise in business systems analysis, project management, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Proficient with relational databases (SQL), data querying, and code reading
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and organizational abilities
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in conducting post-deployment validation
- Exceptional written communication skills, including documentation, flowcharts, and presentations
- Strong verbal communication capabilities with business partners, senior executives, developers, and cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented setting
- Experience working within Agile frameworks
- Familiarity with Product Management/Development tools (such as Jira, Azure/TFS, etc.)
- Understanding of DevSecOps and Continuous Delivery/Improvement methodologies
Working Conditions
This position is performed in a professional office environment, making use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Some travel may be necessary.
Physical Requirements
In the course of fulfilling this role, employees will regularly be required to sit, walk, and stand; communicate in person and via phone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office machinery; reach with their hands and arms; and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
